Verkada is purchased as a hardware component (Camera, Sensor, Door Controller etc) as well as an accompanying licence or licenses depending on the feature set required.
Each device in the Command Platform requires a licence and they can be purchased with the device, or separately (in the case of a licence renewal).
Licenses are purchased for different durations - 1, 3, 5, or 10 years and within Command are averaged to calculate a single co-terminated expiration date.
The “clock” for a license starts counting down upon purchase. As a cloud-connected product, valid Command licenses are required for all Verkada devices and this gives the customer access to all updates and support.
Cameras are purchased with either 15, 30, 60, 90, 120 or 365 days of on-board storage, and all come with 30 days of Cloud Storage by default.
A Command license for 1, 3, 5 or 10 years is required for each camera, and, if you wanted additional Cloud Storage past default 30 days, a Cloud Storage licence would need to be purchased too.
Other products also have their own license requirements.
